CURRUMBIN, GOLD COAST. AUSTRALIA

Currumbin Creek and Palm Beach is one of our favorite beaches we can have a swim with our pup (Shari).

If you own a dog, you’ll know the places you can go and things you can do are limited, especially without your best friend mortally embarrassing you by spontaneously dropping one at the worst possible moment.

If you don’t own a dog, there’s a good chance you wish you did, and want to go somewhere you can pretend you own a dog, without the hassle of knowing you’re literally responsible for an animal’s excrement.
And for owners it doesn’t come much more scenic than this, with gorgeous vistas across Currumbin Creek on the still water side and views to Surfers paradise from the wide surf stretch on the other.

This sizable sandy patch of dog paradise starts at the edge of Palm Beach Parklands and follows Currumbin Creek all the way around to the surf. So whether your dog is the wave catching type or just enjoys a good old-fashioned dog paddle, both will be in heaven here.

The northern side of Currumbin Lagoon and its adjacent beachfront are designated an off-leash area, offering dogs and families plenty of space to run and swim.
Some weekends if you glance along the edge of the lagoon, there is a maze of children, adults and dogs of every size and breed, all in a harmonious buzz, all basking in the warm tranquil waters of Currumbin lagoon.

Just behind the dunes near the off-leash beach, you’ll find Dune Café – where patrons with dogs are also welcome. And it’s not only four-legged family members who turn up: the café was recently voted the most kid-friendly café on the coast.

We started our blog “tony&kimoutdooradventures.blogspot.com”, in 2015 after our great 5 week adventure in Europe. We’ve had so many adventures, we decided to start a blog to capture and show our family and close friends in Australia and many Overseas on what we get up to. On our sometimes long work days we realized most of the travel blogs we were reading were people who had quit their jobs, sold all of their belongings and travel full-time. While this way of life is admirable, it’s not reality for a lot of people so we created this space on the internet as a way to show others you can have the best of both worlds. We are happily married for 10+ years and both of us have great challenging and rewarding jobs and a house almost paid off. Plus in 2016 we added our Kelpie pup Shari to our Adventures. Travelling is an expense that brings us happiness, joy and helps create lasting memories. Travelling with that special someone in your life makes those adventures all the more memorable. Our Adventures are all about taking each experience, regardless if you know the outcome or not and facing it head on. Its about seeing the world from a different perspective, even if you’ve seen it a million times before. It is choosing to see the beauty from the ordinary and finding ways on how to do it differently. We get out every opportunity to explore our Town of Brisbane, State of Queensland and Country of Australia; Markets, Festivals, Concerts, Stage Shows, Beaches, Hinterland, Rainforests, History and Shopping. We also love getting 2+ hours out of the City of Brisbane to Camp, explore and enjoy the quietness. We enjoy putting technology away and enjoy the company of each other. We have already explored many parts of Australia from Cape York in Queensland to The Great Ocean Road in Victoria. Tasmania, Perth-Fremantle, Sydney, Melbourne, NT, many places in Queensland and Queensland Outback. We have enjoyed overseas destinations in London, Amsterdam, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco, France, Spain, Dubai and Singapore. We also take time out to give back to the community in volunteering. We were privileged to be chosen as Games Shapers for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. We also help out many Breast Cancer charity walks and rides. Giving up our time is rewarding and uplifting experience some people will never experience. With many day and weekend trips away we always set aside a major trip each year. We are looking forward to our 12 Day New Zealand Cruise at the start of 2019.

  1. Dune Cafe looks amazing! My pups love spending the day at the beach but unfortunately we live in Hong Kong and there aren't that many dog-friendly beaches. Maybe one day we'll have to move out to Oz!

  4. The northern part of Currumbin Lagoon sounds like a perfect place to take the dogs, the no leash area will be perfect for them. The burger at the Dune Cafe looks delicious it's perfect that it's pet friendly so you can pass buy after exercising the dogs.

  5. It's always so much fun to go running on the beach with the dogs! It's a pity there aren't a whole lot of beaches like this around. This beach really sounds like a dog's paradise and the off leash area must be so much fun for them. We don't have a dog at the moment but we're considering getting one at one point.

  6. As mentioned above, I was going to say this beach looks and sounds like a giant playground for the dogs. At the same time, reading this post also made me want to get one of my own (A dog, that is). Anyway, it's always nice to see a decent cafe in which to relax before or after the walk – thanks for the heads up!

  7. Beautiful capture of the sunset in the end. I am not a dog person, but couple of my friends who have dogs love such places. It is good to read about pet friendly locations where they can roam freely and play around.
